MediSystem Pharmacy invested heavily on technology with only one objective in mind, that is, to improve staff productivity and efficiency at the facilities we service so that staff can focus on their primary duties – caring for their residents.

Throughout our history, we have transformed new technologies into useful everyday tools for skilled nursing and long-term care facilities. We were the FIRST in the industry to move from an era of administering medications from individual blister packs to multi-dose packaging strips. This innovative form of packaging not only greatly reduces the med-pass times, but more importantly, decreases the error rate tremendously.

We were also the FIRST in the industry to adopt the innovative digital pen technology in the transmission of physician orders from the facilities to our pharmacies. Since the inception of the digital pen technology in 2004, the digital pen ordering system has been deployed in over 95 percent of all our customers. The digital pen ordering system has now become the industry standard for physician order transmissions.

In 2006, another huge step was made by the introduction of the digital pen based electronic MAR (digiMAR) system. Not only does this system have all the benefits of the computer-based electronic MAR system, but at the same time it has the advantages of being extremely simple to use and easy to maintain.

The pen technology will continue to be used extensively in all areas of pharmacy-facility applications such as Quarterly Review (digi3MR), Med-check Assessment, Tamiflu dosage calculation and inter pharmacy-facility communications.

And the innovation and commitment never stops.
