Job Title: Pharmacist

Department:Pharmacy Operations

Report To:Pharmacy Manager or Pod Leader Pharmacist

Objectives Summary:

To ensure all prescriptions are dispensed in accordance with pharmacy regulations and company policies. To assist the Pharmacy Manager in achieving his/her objectives

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Pharmacy Operations:

1.Ensure all prescriptions are processed and using the triple check method in compliance with federal and provincial pharmacy regulations.

2.Provide pharmaceutical interventions and document course of action and the outcomes.

3.In the event of a medication incident follow protocol for reporting, and minimize medication incidents according to company policies and procedures.

4.Assist in the maintenance, proper storage and security of inventory.

5.Present a professional image.

6.Provide and promote excellent level of customer service among team members.

7.Maintain and ensure accuracy to patient profiles.

8.Ensure cost containment measures to optimize usage of the Ontario Drug Benefit formulary and costs to MediSystem clients.

9.Ensure all products dispensed are accurately billed to a third party (e.g., Ontario Drug Benefit, client, etc.).

10.Ensure cost effective delivery of medication and products to patients.

11.Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality is protected in accordance with regulations.

12.Coordinate daily work to maximize productivity and complete scheduled deliveries to clients.

13.Actively participate in continuing education programs.

14.Contribute at least once annually to MediSystem Pharmacy’s quarterly newsletter to client facilities.

15.Contribute at least once annually on a rotating basis to MediSystem pharmacists’ monthly meeting for new drug/drug news sharing.

16.Supervise pharmacy team members on weekends, statutory holidays.

17.Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.

Administrative:

1.Assist Pharmacy Manager to ensure all Pharmacy Technicians are in compliance with company policies and operating procedures (regulatory/legal requirements).

2.Train and supervise pharmacy operations staff as required.

3.Assist in the evaluation of the job performance of Pharmacy Technicians and Assistants

4.Assist in achieving financial objectives for the company.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS

1.Ontario Pharmacist license in good standing

2.Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or equivalent degree

3.Completion of Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada examinations

4.Effective written and verbal communication skills

5.Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

6.Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills

7.Attention to detail

8.Complete work with minimum supervision

9.Team player and Leadership skills

EQUIPMENT & TECHNOLOGY USED

1.Basic computer skills

2.Ability to learn in-house software

MediSystem has traditional hours of operation with typical weekday shifts being 9:00-5:00, 10:00-6:00 or 11:00-7:00 with weekend rotations of 1 in 4 Saturday or Sunday. (12:00-6:00).
