Over the past few years, Long Term Care Pharmacy in Canada has been a dynamic and growing industry. The aging “Baby Boomer” generation will contribute even further to the growth trend in this clinical setting. MediSystem brings a unique approach to the practice of Pharmacy. MediSystem relies on multiple specialty pharmacists to deliver Pharmaceutical Care to patients. Patients in this setting have special needs – they are elderly, frail, chronically ill, and often they can no longer care for themselves. Pharmacists at our distribution site, work in teams as well as with other support staff to administer appropriate drug regimens for patients. Our pharmacists act as the primary heath care contact to the LTC facilities’ medical and nursing staff. MediSystem also employs clinical consultant pharmacists who conduct regular drug regimens reviews for residents at facilities to assess appropriateness and efficacy of drug therapies. These pharmacists also provide in-service education and training for medical and support staff at the facilities for which they consult. MediSystem offers management positions at various levels. MediSystem was founded by the vision of pharmacist, Gary Chin. Many key management positions are held by pharmacists. MediSystem has traditional hours of operation with typical weekday shifts being 9:00-5:00, 10:00-6:00 or 11:00-7:00 with weekend rotations of 1 in 4 Saturday or Sunday. (12:00-6:00). MediSystem has built on its reputation of providing superior customer service and continues to grow as a result of this. |
