Founded in the late 1980s, MediSystem began as Queensway Centre Pharmacy, a small retail pharmacy in suburban Toronto Ontario. Its founder, Gary Chin, shifted the company's focus in the 1990s to servicing long-term care facilities. Efficiency, accuracy, and solid teamwork earned us a reputation of integrity and trust, which remains the soul of our company today.

Our rapidly growing business reached a critical turning point with the discovery and subsequent investment in breakthrough, automated multi-dose dispensing technology. Where nurses once administered multiple blister packs with various dosages to patients, we offered them an easier, time-saving way to administer multiple medication dosages in a single, individualized packet. This once small pharmacy has twice expanded to keep pace with the enormous demand brought on by the success of this service.

In 1999, MediSystem became a public company, trading on the Canadian Venture Exchange. On August 31, 2004, the company is officially listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), trading under the symbol (MDY). In October, 2006 Shoppers Drug Mart Corporation successfully acquired Medisystem technologies Inc.which, subsequently, was delisted from the Toronto Stock Exchange. Today Medisystem Pharmacy™ operates as a Shoppers Drug Mart® Company.

MediSystem services thousands of long-term care beds, and continues to attract new clients, new vendors and highly talented staff. And the vision doesn’t stop here: we are harnessing the power of the Web for our long-term care customers. MediSystem's digital pen technology is the newest innovation implemented to improve the delivery of pharmacy service at the facility.
